Editing & proofreading services

I’m here to help.

After all that research and writing, you finally have a draft of your document or manuscript. Let’s say you’ve written an article and it is close to what you want—but not quite there yet. Maybe it needs a polish. Or some help with organization and flow. Or you feel great about it, but you want another set of eyes - sharp eyes! before it goes out into the world.

As an academic proofreader, allow me to edit your article, chapter, or full dissertation critically and carefully, flagging inconsistencies and offering constructive alternatives. I edit for content, structure, and style (substantive, structural, and stylistic editing), as well as for grammar and punctuation (copy editing). Beyond academia, I proofread reports for nonprofits and consulting agencies.

Here’s how it works.

Send me an email below with a description of what you need and a sample of the project attached as a Word file or Google document.

Are you receiving funds through your university? We discuss deadlines, whether you require surface or in-depth edits, and your department typically handles the payment. Otherwise, I’ll send you a quote and timeline and we can go from there! If you would like to see my rate card, please contact me at fekbianco@gmail.com or fill in the form below.

Kind words from past and present clients:

“Francesca was an excellent editor assisting me with my PhD thesis revisions. Not only was the communication between us pleasant and efficient, above all the quality of my thesis increased significantly after her review. Francesca made the text much more concise, elegant, and clear. Also, she always adapted to my deadlines.”

— Roger Fernandez-Urbano, PhD candidate in Political Science at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy.

“I’m very happy to recommend Francesca’s proofreading service. She edited both a book chapter for an edited volume and single revised paragraphs for resubmission to an academic journal. Both texts improved considerably thanks to her suggestions. Apart from correcting the obvious mistakes, Francesca also provided very valuable general feedback, for example on the length of paragraphs or the use of active and passive voice. Personally, she is a very friendly and reliable person to work with. Francesca kept all agreed deadlines and promptly replied to both initial enquiries and requests for clarifications.”

— Dr. Anne Pintsch, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science & Management at the University of Agder, Norway.

“I found it difficult to find a person who would be flexible enough to proofread my thesis within a tight deadline and, at the same time, would work in a format other than Microsoft Word. Francesca offered me such comfort without hesitation. She finished it before the deadline, and let me submit my thesis without stress. I will always go back to her when I need professional advice on my academic manuscripts.”

— Oliko Vardishvili, Yale postdoctoral researcher in Economics & incoming Assistant Professor at UC Irvine.
